Meet The GTC Office Team
22 Aug 2025
Whether you need help or information, Girton Town Charity’s office team based at Dovehouse Court on High Street is there to assist, by telephone, email or in person. Here we introduce Carol, Sue and Fred and give an outline of their specific responsibilities. Carol Robinson is Office Manager, with responsibility for Sue Coughlan, Office Administrator and Fred Stevens who is Maintenance Supervisor.
Point of contact
She says: “My role is very varied, dealing with matters of compliance, finance and the day-to-day running of our busy office and as Sue has explained, we are the main point of contact for our almshouse residents as well as helping people in the Village with enquiries.
“I have recently been involved with a project to broaden our health and safety policies to meet current regulations including ensuring everyone feels safe at work. I also support Trustees in administering our various Grants and Schemes, providing research and background material as required."
Support
Sue Coughlan looks after the office during core hours, answering the telephone, replying to emails, processing payments and generally providing administrative support to the Office Manager.
Sue says: “We are the main point of contact between our almshouse residents and Trustees, and the first port of call for enquiries about financial help with our Grants and Schemes. We can also direct residents to other organisations for advice if they need help outside the Charity’s remit.
“Every day is different and I enjoy the variety this brings, knowing I am helping Village residents with a range of issues. Having the support of the Trustees and being able to tap into their knowledge is really helpful and makes for a rewarding role where I feel very much appreciated.”
Maintenance issues
The third member of the team is Fred Stevens, who is responsible for managing both pre-planned and reactive maintenance for the Charity’s 28 almshouses, office and grounds.
He says: “This entails liaising with contractors and residents to ensure all work is completed to a high standard and keeping track of jobs using our maintenance software.
“For me, one of the highlights of my time here was helping with the Royal Visit by HRH The Duke of Gloucester in June which was a huge privilege and an excellent insight into the extensive planning and attention to detail such an event entails.”
